11. Lavarsi – to wash oneself

A: Ti sei lavato le mani Luca?

B: Sì, e tu ti sei lavata i denti mamma?

A: Certo, perché?

B: Ti puzza l’alito!

A: Cosa?

B: Ah no, scusa. È l’alito di tonno di quell’orribile gatto che ti porti sempre appresso.

A: Luca! Ma che modi sono?

B: Ah ah! Lo sai che ti voglio bene mamma, ma proprio non mi piace il tuo gatto Lucifero!

A: Ma perché? È così carino!

B: Allora perché non l’hai chiamato angioletto?

A: Perché sei tu il mio angioletto! Vieni qui che ti riempo di baci!

B: Mamma, nooo! Ti giuro che non prenderò mai più in giro il tuo adorato gatto.

A: Ah ah! Così va meglio...

A: Did you wash your hands, Luca?

B: Yes, and did you brush your teeth, Mom?

A: Sure, why?

B: Your breath stinks!

A: What?

B: Oh no, sorry. It's the tuna breath of that horrible cat you’re always carrying around.

A: Luca! Watch your manners!

12. Lamentarsi – to complain

A: Molte persone che hanno votato per l’innominabile adesso si lamentano.

B: Meno male, vuol dire che forse hanno recuperato il lume della ragione!

A: Many people who voted for the unmentionable are now complaining.

B: Thank goodness, it means they've perhaps recovered their sanity!

13. Mettersi – to put on, to place oneself

A: Mettiti lì che ti faccio una bella foto!

B: Scusa ma mi sembra che la tua macchina fotografica punti dietro di me.

A: Scusa, il coccodrillo dietro di te mi ha distratto.

B: Cosaaa?

A: Questa sì che è una foto! Meno male che non sa che in Sud Australia non ci sono i coccodrilli!

A: Stand there and I'll take a nice picture of you!

B: Sorry, but I think your camera is pointing behind me.

A: Sorry, the crocodile behind you distracted me.

B: What?

A: Now that's a picture! Good thing she doesn't know there are no crocodiles in South Australia!

14. Pettinarsi – to comb oneself

A: Non si pettina mai, ma passa ore a pettinare le sue galline.

B: In che senso scusa?

A: Le sue galline da competizione. Le porta sempre ad Australia's Next Top Chicken.

B: Ti prego, dimmi che stai scherzando.

A: No, te lo giuro.

C: Siete solo gelosi. Le mie galline sono incredibili!

A: He never combs his hair, but he spends hours combing his chickens.

15. Prepararsi – to get ready

A: Ma non ti sto prendendo in giro! Te lo giuro!

B: First the chickens, and now the toes. Will you stop teasing me?

16. Rilassarsi – to relax

A: Allora ti sei rilassata a farti il bagno di fango?

B: Scusa ma avrei preferito rotolarmi nel prato di fronte a casa, almeno non puzza!

A: Ahah, la prossima volta proviamo le vasche di galleggiamento.

B: No scusa ma non ci penso proprio a farmi chiudere in una bara.

A: Certo che sei! Ma lasciati andare un po', prova cose nuove, abbraccia il cambiamento!

B: Tesoro, mi bastano un bicchiere di vino e la mia vasca da bagno per rilassarmi. Guarda il lato positivo, ti faccio risparmiare!

A: In effetti...

A: So, did you relax by taking a mud bath?

B: Sorry, but I would have preferred to roll around in the front lawn, at least it doesn't stink!

A: Haha, next time we'll try float tanks.

B: No, sorry, but there’s no way I’ll let them lock me in a coffin.

17. Svegliarsi – to wake up

A: Ti sei svegliato presto oggi?

18. Sentirsi – to feel

A: Oggi mi sento in ottima forma. Ho dormito bene, sono andata a fare una bella corsa e il tempo è splendido.

B: Siediti cara, dobbiamo parlare.

A: No ti prego, lascia che io mi goda questa bella sensazione. Cosa devi dirmi?

B: Nulla, volevo solo farti arrabbiare.

A: Ma perché ti piace così tanto stuzzicarmi?

B: Perché ti amo!

A: ???

A: I feel great today. I slept well, I went for a nice run, and the weather is amazing.

B: Sit down, dear, we need to talk.

A: No, please, let me enjoy this wonderful feeling. What do you want to tell me?

B: Nothing, I just wanted to make you upset.

A: Why do you like teasing me so much?

19. Tuffarsi – to dive in

B: (Meno male che so nascondere le mie emozioni...)

A: Nessuna delle due. Mi vestirò di nero e poi prenderò in braccio i gatti per ricoprirmi di peli.

B: Scusa ma ti senti bene?

A: Sì, sì, è che ho appena visto che un costume da Cat Woman costa 200 dollari. Perché spendere tutti quei soldi quando i miei gatti possono farlo gratis?

B: Ahah, non vedo l’ora di vedere il risultato!

A: I've decided to dress up as Cat Woman for the next costume party.

B: Cool! Which version are you going for? Halle Berry or Michelle Pfeiffer?

A: Neither. I'll dress in black and then pick up the cats to cover myself in fur.

B: Are you feeling okay?

A: Yeah, yeah, I just saw that a Cat Woman costume costs $200. Why spend all that money when my cats can do it for free?

B: Haha, I can't wait to see the results!
