Società/azienda/impresa – Company
Patagonia è un’impresa che fa molto per l’ambiente – Patagonia is a company that does a lot for the environment.
Spazzatura – Rubbish
Da piccole, io e mia sorella raccoglievamo la spazzatura dalla spiaggia per proteggere gli animali e tenere le spiagge pulite – When we were little, my sister and I used to pick up litter from the beach to protect the animals and keep the beaches clean.
Sperimentare – To experiment
Mi piace molto sperimentare in cucina, ma a volte faccio dei veri disastri – I really enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, but sometimes I make a terrible mess.
Spese – Expenses/fees
Se le spese per il viaggio sono troppo alte, forse è meglio andare durante la bassa stagione – If the travel costs are too high, perhaps it is better to go in the off-season.
Spostare – To move
A: Scusa, puoi spostare i piedi? Non vedi che i gatti sono scomodi?
B: Oh, mi scusi, non volevo disturbare gli imperatori del suo cuore.

Spostarsi – to get around/ to get from… to…
A: Come ti sposterai da una città all’altra in Europa?
B: Con il treno, lo adoro!

B: By train, I love it!
Spreco – Waste
A: Molte persone pensano che giocare ai videogiochi sia una perdita di tempo, ma io non sono d'accordo.
B: Perché?
A: Ti insegnano a mantenere la calma in situazioni molto stressanti...
B: Non potresti semplicemente meditare?
A: Prima dici che non ti piacciono i miei gatti e ora i miei videogiochi... Attento, stai rischiando grosso…
A: Many people think that playing video games is a waste of time, but I disagree.
B: Why?
A: They teach you to stay calm in very stressful situations...
B: Couldn’t you just meditate?
A: First you don’t like my cats and now you don’t like my video games... You’re walking into dangerous territory…
Sprecare – To waste
A: Perché sprecare tempo a parlare con i sostenitori di Donny?
B: Scusa ma chi è Donny?
A: L’uomo arancione.
B: Ah, quello che dice di assomigliare a Elvis. Ah ah!
A: Why waste time talking to Donny supporters?
B: Sorry, but who’s Donny?

Stolto – Foolish
Non c’è peggior stolto di chi non vuol capire – There is no worse fool than someone who doesn’t want to understand.
Straordinari – overtime
Fare gli straordinari è un ottimo modo per guadagnare di più – Working overtime is a great way to earn more.
Strisce pedonali – Pedestrian crossing
A: Usa le strisce pedonali per attraversare la strada.
B: Cos’è hai paura che mi faccio male?
A: No, ho paura per il cane.
B: Ma come sei simpatica…
A: Use the pedestrian crossing to cross the street.
B: Are you afraid I’ll get hurt?
A: No, I’m scared for the dog.
B: You are always so nice…
Superalcolici – Spirits
A: Una festa senza superalcolici è come una vigna senza uva.
B: A volte mi chiedo come ti vengono…
A: A party without spirits is like a vineyard without grapes.
B: Sometimes I wonder how you come up with these things…
Sviluppare – To develop
Gli scienziati hanno sviluppato nuove tecnologie per combattere malattie molto pericolose – Scientists have developed new technologies to fight very dangerous diseases.
Tasse – Taxes
Nei paesi scandinavi le tasse sono alte, ma i cittadini hanno accesso a servizi eccellenti – In Scandinavian countries, taxes are high, but citizens have access to excellent services.
Tassa universitaria – University fee
A: Quando andavo all’università le tasse universitarie erano più basse.
B: Sì, ma di quanti anni fa parliamo?
A: Se ti rispondo, poi dovrò ucciderti ahah!
A: When I went to university, tuition fees were lower.
B: Yes, but how many years ago are we talking about?
A: If I answer you, I’ll have to kill you haha!
